Ault passes for 268 yards and 3 TDs in BHS win at Carey

By Bryan Kress
After a slow first half that showed only one touchdown from Carey the fireworks were turned on in the second with six scores allowing the Pirates to take home the victory.

The only score of the first came a Zach Brodman four-yard run to put the game at 6-0.

Bluffton came out of half time throwing as Mitchell Ault got the Pirates on the board with a 54-yard pass to Levi Kistler.

Then Bluffton put up another score with a Noah Stratton one-yard run and then converted the two-point play to make the score 14-6 going into the fourth quarter.

Carey’s Brodman would answer back with another touchdown run, this time from one-yard out and converted their own two-point play to tie the game at 14-14.

Ault would then find Kistler again for a 44-yard touchdown pass and run in another two-point conversion by Bryan Powers to take the lead at 22-14.

Carey would tie the game late at 22-22 with an Alex Distel 10-yard run and then two-point conversion with less than two minutes left.

Bluffton would not be denied the victory on the road however as Ault saved his best for last as he hit former quarterback Robbie Stratton on a 60-yard bomb with a minute and change left to go.

Bluffton was then able to hold on for the victory 28-22.

Mitchell Ault was the star of the game as he completed 16 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns.

Noah Stratton led the team in rushing with 53 yards and Levi Kistler and Robbie Stratton led the team in receiving with 128 and 95 yards respectively.

The Bluffton defense gave up 193 yards on the ground, but on 48 total carries so the defense was able to stuff the run and only allow one pass completion all game.

The Pirates will be traveling this week to face-off at Delphos Jefferson (2-0).
