Beavers softball rallies for 5-3 win over Asbury

Bluffton will host Albion on Monday, March 25. Game one is slated for 3:30 p.m.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton University softball team rallied late in game one for a split with Asbury University on Saturday, March 22, 2024. The Beavers upped their season mark to 3-13, while Asbury stands 9-10 on the year.

Bluffton hosts Earlham College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on March 25 at Memorial Field.

CINCINNATI__Mount St. Joseph limited the Bluffton University baseball team to three runs in a sweep of the Beavers on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

A medical perspective on eclipse planning

On Monday, April 8, Northwest Ohio will get a front-row seat to a total solar eclipse. The moon will gradually begin to block the sun in the early afternoon, and the eclipse will reach totality (meaning the moon will entirely block the sun) at approximately 3:10 p.m.

Pirate Braeden Jordan signs baseball letter of intent with Wright State

Bluffton High School senior Braeden Jordan has signed a Letter of Intent to play college baseball at Wright State University-Lake Campus in 2024-2025. 

Jordan is an all-NWC Centerfielder for the Pirates baseball team and a member of the Findlay Legion baseball team. He was also an all-NWC and All-District Receiver for the Pirate football team. Braeden is also an Academic All-Ohio for the Pirates. 

Jordan will join Coach John Bailey at the Wright State Lake Campus next fall and is undecided on his major.

Cindy Luginbill, emcee of the May 10 Et Cetera Inc. event 50 Years of Fashion, compared the preparation for the 50th anniversary celebration to organizing a wedding. Shall I compare the fashion show to summer’s (wedding) day? With apologies to Shakespeare, I shall.

International Women’s Flag Football tournament at Ohio Northern University May 4-5

Last semester, students in the Women’s Sport History class convinced Diane Beruldsen, president of the International Women’s Flag Football Association to hold a women’s flag football tournament at ONU. We consulted with ONU Athletic Director Tom Simmons and Andy Wentling, Plant Manager for the Wilson Football factory. Both agreed to help sponsor the tournament.
