Forrest John Clingerman taught at Ohio Northern University

Forrest John Clingerman, 52, passed away April 21, 2024, at his home.

Forrest was born January 29, 1972 in Terre Haute, IN, to John and Claire (Spaulding) Clingerman who survive. On August 20, 1994 he married Gail (Pearson) Clingerman who also survives.

The April 22 regular meeting of the Village of Bluffton Council was just 30 minutes, time enough to touch on a wide variety of topics of community interest. There was no legislation at the meeting.

PHOTO Bluffton Girl Scout troop visits the Mayor

Bluffton Girl Scouts from Troop 21255 recently enjoyed an impromptu meeting with Mayor Richard Johnson. The girls, who are in grades K-2, were working on the Good Neighbor badge when they bumped into Johnson at Bluffton Town Hall. The girls were advised that Johnson is not only mayor, he's also a grandpa. PHOTO provided.

Perry Bush at BPL Friends of the Library Tea, April 25

CORRECTION: An additional book credit has been listed.

At this writing on Tuesday, just seven tickets are still available for the annual Friends of the Library Tea at Bluffton Public Library on Thursday, April 25 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. 

The guest speaker is local author Perry Bush, a professor of history who has written three books:

Dancing With the Kobzar, Two Kingdoms, Two Loyalties: Mennonite Pacifism in Modern America and Rust Belt Resistance: How a Small Community Took on Big Oil and Won, and Peace, Progress and the Professor: The Mennonite History of C. Henry Smith.

Tickets for the formal tea are $20.00; cash or check accepted.

PHOTOS Heritage Center progress report

An April 18 visit to the Schumacher Homestead, 8350 Bixel Rd., shows progress on details including windows, floors and fundraising. The Swiss Community Historical Society broke ground on the project on August 1, 2023.
