FDA approves generics of multiple sclerosis Rx

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved generic versions of Gilenya, a multiple sclerosis (MS) medication.

Gilenya (fingolimod) is used to treat adults with relapsing forms of MS. This medication is available in capsule form. The FDA initially approved this drug in 2010, but it has only been available as a brand-name medication — until now.

This month, the FDA approved three applications for generic Gilenya. A generic version means a more affordable treatment option.

It was a family formal dining experience for Bluffton Middle School students on Wednesday. Complete with table decor, students dressed up with low lighting, centerpieces and holiday instrumental music as part of the dining experience. It could be the most popular schoo lweek of the year – and yes, several learning opportunities make up the curriculum.

Bluffton Middle School students participated in the annual Teach Like a Pirate Day on Dec. 19.

From 8 a.m. to noon students traveled among their four core teachers and spent an hour doing activities that they would not normally do. Students rotated between teachers after each hour ended.
