Bluffton Presbyterian holds chicken/pork chop dinner fundraiser

Drive-thru dinner Oct. 9; tickets on sale now

Bluffton Presbyterian Church will hold a drive-thru chicken/pork chop fundraiser from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, behind the church in the municipal parking lot.

Tickets are $8 each with options for: half-chicken, baked potato, applesauce, roll, or pork chop in place of chicken.

All proceeds go to Deacons Aid Fund for local missions.

Order online at blufftonpc.org and click on the word "Give," on the giving page click on the green words "Click Here to Give," fill in quantity of choice, type Deacons Aid Fund, follow instructions, review, click Process.

United Way of Greater Lima announces strategic changes

The United Way of Greater Lima has served Allen County for over 100 years.

During that time, it has brought together the community each year to address the needs of our entire county and has invested millions into meeting those needs.

In an effort to continue to impact our community for years to come, the United Way announced today that it will make strategic changes to its internal operations.

Melina Meza, October's Icon artist

Melina Meza, a Bluffton High School senior, is the October Icon's artist of the month.

She had taken several art classes including Art 1, Design 1,  and currently Photography, Mural and Art Seminar.

Here's what she says about art:
"I enjoy art because I have the liberties and freedoms to express my ideas and thoughts. There are so many ways to put together an art piece, and with different mediums, that it never becomes boring.

BFR fall session 3 starts Monday

Youth and adult program options through Nov. 8

Bluffton Family Recreation fall session 3 begins on Monday, Oct. 12, and there is still time to sign-up, according to Daniel Tinch, executive director.

The session run until Nov. 8 and includes youth programs, adult league and Group Ex classes.

This fall BFR holds two school break camps. The first is Tuesday, Nov. 24, focusing on “good eats.” The second is Wednesday, Dec. 23, focusing on winter STEM.

Club  BFR offers school-age youth Monday to Friday programming from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Spectrum Salon painting their pumpkins pink

Do you like to decorate pumpkins?

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Spectrum Salon, 422 N. Main St., Bluffton, will hold a “pink” pumpkin decorating contest.

Mandy Kinn said, “Decorate a pumpkin pink for breast cancer and message it to our Facebook page.”

“We will then hold a contest with all entries. Prizes will be awarded.”

Entries must. Be received by Tuesday, Oct. 20. Voting starts on Oct. 21 and continues through Friday, Oct. 30.
