Fill 'er up at Hardwick's Marathon

You are looking at Lloyd Hardwick standing beside a 1954 Kaiser Darrin sports car. The photo was taken during one of the early Bluffton car shows. Hardwick's Marathon station was located where the A to Z Meats is today.

The building was modified and no longer has the "drive through" effect to fill your car tank at 30 cents a gallon or less.

We think that may be Dick Cookson cleaning the wind shield and his son, Lee, (behind the car). If you are looking for a Kaiser Darrin today, expect to pay in excess of $100,000. Perhaps up to $225,000.

(Thanks for Sue Hardwick for additional information!)
