Hilda Young was a lifelong local resident

Hilda M. Young, 89, died July 21, 2019, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. Hilda was born Nov. 23, 1929, in Ada to the late Coy and Mabel (Scoles) Binkley.  On Oct. 15, 1948, she married Edison "Eddie" Young and they were married for 62 years prior to his death on Oct. 27, 2011.

Community picnic Sunday at Buckeye

First United Methodist, Rockport UMC hosting the picnic

Icon viewers are invited to a community picnic hosted by First United Methodist Church, Bluffton, and  Rockport United Methodist Church.

The picnic is at 5 p.m., Sunday, July 28, at the Buckeye park.  Members of the host congregations will bring hot and cold dishes to share.

In case of inclement weather watch for signs at the park. In that event the picnic will take place in the First United Church fellowship hall located at 116 Church Street. The picnic is open to the public and it includes music, worship, food, fellowship and games.

Wilma Sanyi was a retired officer manager at Lima Memorial Hospital

Wilma J. Sanyi, 83, died July 20, 2019, at her residence. Wilma was born July 19, 1936, in Beaverdam to the late Raymond and LaDonna (Williams) Zimmerman.  On July 24, 1990, she married Julius "Jay" Sanyi who preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2010.

The Icon spotted this plate - guess where - on a 1970 Cadillac. It was a display plate in the rear window of the vehicle on display at the Ada cruise in on Saturday. Owner is Cheryl Geer of Ada. A very beautiful vehicle.

Transition Bluffton invites the community to the Buckeye park at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, for an evening of fun and discussion. 

Bring any abundance of vegetables you would like to trade or share.  Join in a discussion about Robin Kimmerer's Potawatomi ideal of Honorable Harvest set forth in her book, Braiding Sweetgrass. "Let's explore what following such an ideal would mean for you, your neighbors and the community at large,”said Peter Badertscher of Transition Bluffton.
