FDA warns against supplements containing cesium salts

Five companies under fire for marketing supplements with cesium chloride

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sent five companies warning letters for marketing products with cesium chloride.

Cesium chloride, a dietary ingredient, may be found in some dietary supplements. It has been promoted as an alternative treatment for cancer. But the FDA stated that it had not approved any products containing cesium chloride to treat any health conditions, including cancer.

The FDA said it is concerned about the risks associated with these products.

Angels ready to go home with you

Christmas arrived at Bluffton Senior Citizens' Center, 132 N. Main St. The center's annual Christmas garage sale is underway today (Friday) until 5 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to noon. Lots of holiday items are available including many angels. The sale is part of this weekend's Bluffton downtown holiday open house.

Sexual assault, driving under suspension arrests among October police reports

Here is the October, 2020, Bluffton police report.
Oct. 1
A Cherry Street resident reported a theft of medication to police.

Oct. 6
Officers responded to the 400 block of Cherry Street in reference to an unwanted guest.

Oct. 8
Officers arrested an Alger resident for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the area of County Line Road at County Road 33 for a speeding violation. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

Beaver men's basketball preview: Season starts Nov. 12

Guard play will again be a strength for the Beavers this season

The Bluffton University men's basketball team rode a seven-game February winning streak to a third straight berth in the Heartland Conference tournament.

The seven straight HCAC wins established a new school record and had the Beavers on the verge of their first-ever regular season championship heading into the final Saturday.

It marked the fifth time since 2011 that Head Coach Guy Neal has led Bluffton to at least 15 victories, including a school-record tying 18 in 2018-19.
