Beaver academic All-HCAC honorees

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the spring honorees of the HCAC All-Academic awards for the 2013-14 school year. Bluffton University had 14 spring athletes recognized for their efforts in the classroom.

Baseball led the way for the Beavers with seven honorees. Tim Webb (Delaware/Worthington Christian) Ben Roeschley (Graymont, Ill./Flanagan) were both recognized for the third straight year, while fellow senior Ethan Wooldridge (Reynoldsburg/Licking Heights) earned his first Academic All-HCAC honor. Juniors Jeff Roth (Bellevue) and Brad Schlabach (Fredericksburg/Hiland) both secured Academic All-HCAC for the second straight year. Earning HCAC All-Academic honors in their first year of eligibility were sophomores Cade Randolph (Marengo/Highland) and Alex Nibert (Arlington, Va./Yorktown.)

Four members from outdoor track and field received Academic All-Conference honors for 2013-14. Senior Kayla Mullenhour (Delphos/Jefferson) walked away with her second straight All-Academic honor. Junior Hanna Krull (Lewisburg/Tri-County North) collected her second Academic All-HCAC honor of the school year after being honored in the fall for her work during the women's soccer season. Sophomore throwers Aron Gibson (Caledonia/River Valley) and Alex Parker (Alger/Upper Scioto Valley) were both rewarded in their first year of eligibility.

Juniors Brittany Baker (Springboro), Jessica Kuzara (Flat Rock, Mich./Huron) and Emily Kolezynski (Strongsville) from the softball team earned HCAC All-Academic honors for the second straight season. Kuzara. who was recently named First Team Academic All-District by CoSIDA, and Baker were both First Team All-HCAC selections on the diamond this spring.

To be named All-Academic HCAC, a student-athlete must have completed a full year at the institution, be a varsity athlete and carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 through the semester preceding the end of the season.
