Riley Creek's namesake Captain James Riley visits Bridenbaugh School Saturday a.m.

Sea Captain James Riley will visit the Bridenbaugh School, rural Pandora Saturday, Aug. 9.  According, Dr. Darrell Groman, local authority on Captain Riley, the famous captain will lead a discussion at 10 a.m. 

“History Comes Alive! with Little – Known Geographical and Historical Facts of Riley Creek and How the Creek was Named.” … From Riley Creek Baptist Church in  Orange Township, Hancock County to Riley Creek United Methodist Church in Ottawa Township, Putnam County. 

From upstream Riley Creek at Big Rock, through Shannon and past Joseph DeFord’s grist mill, out through the pastures and farmlands of the German Settlement, on past Thomas Gray’s cabin and Rileyville, the Swiss Homestead, John Stout’s grist mill, Columbia and Pendleton and downstream to the Blanchard River.  Covering 26 miles of the Big Riley and Little Riley, all in one day.

George Washington Crossed the Delaware. Captain Riley will reveal which president of the United States of America had crossed the Riley!
