PTO seeks volunteers for Nov. 6 COSI visit; announces several fall events

The Bluffton Elementary PTO announces several fall fund-raisers and school-related events, according to Melissa Knauss, president.

On Thursday, Nov. 6, COSI will be at the Elementary School. The PTO needs volunteers to help COSI in the morning and/or afternoon.  If you are interested, contact Sara Bassett at 419-302-7821 or email, [email protected].

The Scholastic book fair, held in the elementary library, takes place Monday, Oct. 27, through Friday, Oct. 31. Family night is from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The PTO asks Icon viewers to continue to drop off box tops found on many products you may use each and every day in your home.  Cut them out carefully, make sure they are not expired, and drop them off at:
• any of the schools' offices
• Greg's Pharmacy
• Bluffton Senior Citizen Center or
• Vance Street Apartment office

The PTO also collects used ink cartridges, Sunny D UPC codes, School Spirit UPC codes from many products such as Aunt Millie's or Sunbeam, Community Market Receipts, Our Family UPC codes, and Labels for Education found on products such as Campbell's Soup.

Every month, the PTO sells Market Day Food Products, delivered to the school for pick up.  Viewers interested in seeing what Market Day offers may stop by the school office for a flyer.

Bakery Bingo this year will be held on Jan. 31, 2015.

“We will be coming around to local businesses asking for donations to fill our baskets,” said Knauss.

Businesses interested in donating to this project call or email Knauss at 419-659-6110 or email, [email protected] or Tammy Whitlow at 260-433-9491 or email at [email protected]

Knauss said: “As always, we want to thank our wonderful Bluffton community and our students' families for their constant support of our committee as we continue to work to enhance the learning environment of students.”

“Thank you to all the families who filled out our volunteer sign up form in September. We appreciate individuals willing to give of their time and goods to help us with our events and fundraisers.

“The classroom, who turned in the most forms, was Mrs. McKinley's Kindergarten class. She and her classroom were rewarded with a check of $50 of classroom cash,” said Knauss.
