Donavon Jan Conrad worked at Bluffton Stone Co. for one-half a century

Donavon Jan Conrad died on Oct. 22, 2014,  at his home in Findlay.  He was born on April 28, 1938, in Bluffton to the late Donavon Burdette and Ruth Lucille (Dally) Conrad.

He is survived by his wife Leona of 53 years. He is also survived by his three children and their spouses; Jon Randall (Lorie) of Mountain View, Wy., Canda Sue (John) Rooney of Sedona, Ariz., and Michael Eric of Grand Blanc, Mich.  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; his sister Sharon (Bill) Locke of Bluffton; nieces and a nephew.

He served in the Ohio Army National Guard and supported the American Legion, AMVETS and VFW in various capacities.  

In a Conrad tradition established many generations before, Mr. Conrad retired from the Bluffton Stone Co. after 50 years of employment.  He loved the ‘quarry’ and people. He continued to run parts, errands, and help in several capacities at the quarry after retirement.  

Services will be at noon Saturday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery following the service where military rites will be held. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
