David Boisvert was a former Bluffton postmaster

David L. Boisvert, 71,  passed away November 18 at 5:38 a.m. at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.  David was born July 9, 1943 in Sherman, TX, to the late Lionel and Chrystal (Lind) Boisvert. On May 30, 1965 he married Carolyn Boggs Boisvert who survives.

David graduated from Rockford East High School, Rockford, Illinois.  He was a postmaster for 35 years in Bluffton, Troy and Ottawa, retiring in 2000. David was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton, the Midwest Boxer Club, U.S. Trotting Association, Ohio Harness Horsemen, National League of Postmasters, Phantom Regiment Drum Corps and Chicago Cavaliers Drum Corps.  He volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop, Bluffton and was a former 4-H advisor and was a past member of the Bluffton Cultural Affairs Committee.  David enjoyed snow skiing, snowmobiling, amateur hockey, boating, sailing, water skiing, camping, dog shows, RC planes and salmon fishing.

Survivors also include two sons Michael David (Candice) Boisvert of Pandora, Christopher Mark (Elizabeth) Boisvert of Bluffton, and eight grandchildren, Emily Dillon, Katherine  Boisvert, Charlotte Boisvert, Michaela Boisvert, Jensen Boisvert, Jacob Boisvert, Jonah Boisvert and Jora Boisvert.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, Nov. 22, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton, Rev. Kimberly Miller officiating.  Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice, American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
