Donna Steiner 1928-2014

Donna Steiner, 86, died on Dec. 27, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio.  She was born on Nov. 27, 1928, in Wayne County, Michigan, to Harry D. and Mable I. (McPheron) Wingate who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one older brother Albert R. Wingate, daughter-in-law Carol (von Stein) Steiner, and great grandson Josiah David Steiner.

She married Harley R. Steiner on July 30, 1948.  They were married over 66 years.

She is survived by four sons, David (Kathleen), Daniel (Barbara), Michael (Sue), and Ronald (Julie) all of Bluffton; and 11 grandchildren:  Richard (Julie) Steiner, Lori (Steve) Flick, Sara (Peter) Badertscher,  Dr. Christian (Lydia) Steiner, Philip (Mindy) Steiner, Rebekah (Benjamin) Gambrell, Katie (Ryan) Kruse, Anna (Chad) Burkholder, Jessica (Casey) Geren, Joel (Krista) Steiner, and Joshua (Heidi) Steiner.  She is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren. 

She graduated from South High School, Lima, Ohio, in 1948.  She retired from the Bluffton High School cafeteria after working there many years, and then worked at the Cottage Gift Haus for 8 years.  She was a member of the Mothers’ Night Out Club since 1949, and enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family members. She was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church.

Services will be held at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton, on Dec. 30, at 10 a.m.  Pastors Jim King and Richard Potter officiating. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton, and at the church one hour prior to the service. 

Burial will be following the service in the Ebenezer Mennonite cemetery.
