Eight congregations partner with Samaritan's House and Crossroad Crisis Centers in SOS program

During March eight Bluffton and Pandora congregations will partner with Samaritan House and Crossroads Crisis Center in Lima, through the “Supply Our Sisters,” (SOS) program, according to Amy Mikesell.

SOS is a month-long collection of feminine hygiene products (pads and tampons of various types) and the churches are collection points.

“Women make up 32 percent of the homeless population. Feminine hygiene products are essential, but are rarely donated to homeless shelters and women’s resource centers,” said Mikesell.

She added: “As a result, acquiring basic feminine hygiene supplies every month is a silent struggle for many homeless and poor women in our communities. The inability to meet this basic, recurring need is often a private, humiliating disgrace.”

During March of persons are invited to bring donations to the following locations:

Bluffton
• Ebenezer Mennonite Church
• First Mennonite Church
• First United Methodist Church
• St. John’s United Church of Christ
• St. Mary’s Catholic Church

Pandora
• Grace Mennonite Church
• Pandora Missionary Church
• St. John Mennonite Church
