Seven soccer players earn Academic All-Ohio honors

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The NCAA Division III recently announced the recipients of Academic All-Ohio honors for the 2014 season. Seven Bluffton University soccer players were honored for their performance on the field and in the classroom this season.    

Junior Marisa Aguilar (Taylor, Mich./Divine Child) along with sophomores Abby Karikas (Curtice/Genoa Area) and Terrill Webb (Kenton) were all honored as Academic All-Ohio recipients by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association. They were selected to the third team. It marked the second straight year that Aguilar has been recognized by Ohio's coaches. 

Junior Ryan-Johnson Evers (Muskego, Wis.), a two-time second team honoree, was one of four Beavers from the men's team to be recognized. Senior Jordan Andrews (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley), junior Jeff Yoder (Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) and sophomore Josh Carmack (Miamisburg) were all selected Third Team Academic All-Ohio, giving Bluffton four of just six honorees from the Heartland Conference. 

To qualify for Academic All-Ohio honors a player must have started in 50 percent of the matches, be a sophomore or above academically and have a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, the player should have participated in 50 percent of the team's contests at the particular position listed and be a significant contributor to team's success.
