Storytime at Farmers' Market; Cars and Coffee; last swim - this weekend

One week to go and school begins.

In the meantime, several events of interest take place this weekend in Bluffton.

Storytime at the Farmers’ Market
Bluffton Public Library moves its Saturday morning Storytime to the Bluffton Farmers’ Market.

Esther Birkey, youth services coordinator, will read books to youngsters from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Farmers’ market vendors are invited to read a book or two, also.

The Farmers’ Market is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Citizens National Bank parking lot.

As a reminder to customers, a portion of the alley is now closed between the parking lot and the large school parking lot during Farmers’ Market hours. The alley is open to the post office parking lot on the south and to the Citizens National lot to the north.

Cars and Coffee
Bluffton cars and coffee – an informal gathering for enthusiasts and their cars – also takes place on Saturday morning.

The monthly event is offered on the fourth Saturday of each month through October in the parking lot of Masterpiece Signs, 906 N. Main St., next to its heated vehicle storage area, according to Tim Boutwell.

Saturday’s event is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Coffee and pastries are by Common Grounds, according to Boutwell.

“We hope to stimulate some more activity to Bluffton,” he added.

“Cars and coffee is a gathering of auto enthusiasts where proud drivers will congregate to enjoy a cup of coffee and kick tires,” he said. “There is something for everyone: classics, exotics, sports cars, luxury cars, imports and domestics. Bring your ride or drive yourself.”

The events are free and open to the public.

Final swim on Sunday
The Bluffton Community Swimming Pool will be open Saturday and Sunday for its final weekend. The pool will close Sunday for the season on Sunday afternoon.
