Volleyball wins seventh straight with sweep of Earlham

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton’s second conference match of the year brought Earlham to the Sommer Center for a mid-week showdown between the Quakers and the Beavers. Bluffton came into the match 1-0 in the HCAC and the home team (10-6, 2-0 HCAC) walked away undefeated in the conference after dismantling Earlham in three sets. It marked Bluffton's seventh straight victory.

Bluffton started quickly in the first set, holding Earlham to only 11 points while claiming set one. The second set was back-and-forth with seven tie scores and two lead changes. Six late kills by Kendra Parmenter (Grove City), including four straight, helped Bluffton turn a 17-12 deficit into a 25-22 victory. The Beavers made a statement in set three, going on an 8-0 serving streak to start the capper and Bluffton kept the momentum going en route to a 25-9 whitewashing of the Quakers.

Leading the Beavers offensively was Kendra Parmenter, hammering home 15 kills and hitting an outstanding .789. MACKENZIE MCFARLIN (Ashland) chipped in seven kills and LAUREN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) finished with six spikes (.357) on the night.

SYDNEY MOHLER (Lima/ Central Catholic) led the Beavers defensively with 15 digs and she added two aces. McFarlin paced the team with three aces from the service line. ERIN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) handed out 29 assists and put down six kills in the sweep.

Bluffton is back in the Sommer Center on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. to take on the Goshen College Maple Leafs.
