Indoor track opens season at Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University indoor track and field team opened its 2015-16 campaign at Tiffin University on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015. The Beavers shook off the rust and ended the competition with 11 qualifiers for the HCAC indoor championship. 

D'Nae Reese (Columbus/Upper Arlington) and Edgar Gonzalez (Melvindale, Mich./Melvindale) both qualified in weight (hers is a new PR, his ties his PR). Terrill Webb (Kenton), Brock Morris (Burbank/Norwayne) and Kyle Knezovich (Utica) in pole vault (new indoor PR) all had qualifying vaults. Austin Brown (Newton Falls) made it through in high jump while Keturah Warlick (East Point, Mich./Clintondale) posted a qualifying time in the 60 meters. Kyle Knezovich also qualified in the 60 meter hurdles. Quincy Salcido and Sarah Hunter (Mt. Blanchard/Riverdale) accomplished the goal in the 400 meters. 

Anna Hairston (Mansfield/Ontario) won the 3000 meters while posting an HCAC-qualifying time. PRs were recorded by Aron Gibson (Caledonia/River Valley) in weight and Elaina Alpeter (Galloway/Hilliard Bradley) in the 3000 meters. Thaddeus Phillips (South Bend, Ind./Riley) tied his 60 meter PR. Jack Fisher (Norwalk/St. Paul) and Devony Miller (Findlay/Liberty-Benton) both won their mile races. 

Coach Brandt stated, "I am very pleased to come away from the meet with this many athletes already qualified for conference. It should send them into the semester break inspired to do their work to be ready to pick right up at our next meet on January 9 at Hillsdale College in Michigan."
