New life for stalled 2007 Parkview housing development

A dormant Bluffton housing development gained new life this week.

Parkview Development is back. Approved by Bluffton council in 2007, it became mothballed by the Great Recession of 2008 when the housing market collapsed nationwide.

Owners Stanley and Joenita Clemens, developers of Riverbend subdivision, developed the Parkview project and own the land. It lies between Riley Creek and the rear of properties on South Main.

The Clemens announced the impending sale of the land to Three S Development Group, LLC. Those owners are Jeff, Derek and Dan Snyder.

On May 9, the Bluffton Planning Commission reviewed and approved the development’s construction plans for Parkview Phase I, which is approximately one-half of the entire development.

The Snyders intend to start development on Phase I this spring. They hope to put asphalt down on roadway by July, starting at the Bentley and Main Street entrance to the development.

They plan to work from that point toward Jackson Street, eventually connecting to Jackson, which currently is a dead end street.

Members of the planning commission are Sean Burrell, Steven Chamberlain, Judy Augsburger, Roger Edwards, Richard Ramseyer and Robert Amstutz.

Parkview’s designer is Rick Harrison Site Design, Inc., of Minnesota. The Parkview development is one of three Harrison developments in Ohio.

A map of the development is above this story.
