Woodruff family quintet returns for alumni band night

Margie told The Icon: “It was a really fun night to have our family together and everyone under one roof, if just for one night!”

The musical Woodruff family – each a Bluffton High School marching band alum - returned to Bluffton on Friday to be part of the BHS alumni band.

They were part of a 40-member alumni band marching with the BHS band during a pre-game performance.

Joshua played trombone; Mary, E-flat horn; Rachel, clarinet; Emma, cymbals and Noah is this year's senior field commander.

Here's an update on each Woodruff:

• Joshua, graduate of Brigham Young University, lives in Cincinnati with his wife, Sarah. He attends Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.

• Mary attends Brigham Young University, (Special Education major).

• Rachel attends the Ohio State University, (Horticulture and Greenhouse Management major).

• Emma attends Wright State University, (Social Work/Gerontology major).

• Noah, a BHS senior, plans to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints upon graduation and then is undecided between Kent State University or Wright State. He hopes to major in Computer Engineering.

They are children of Margie and David Woodruff, Bluffton.

Margie told The Icon: “It was a really fun night to have our family together and everyone under one roof, if just for one night!”

“They have all had a great experience attending Bluffton High School, but music has been a very big thing in our home, and being part of BHS music programs was a pleasure to partake in.”
