Zickafoose named HCAC Player of Week

October 24, 2016

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University sophomore ISAAC ZICKAFOOSE (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) has been named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a career-day in Bluffton's 34-6 win over Manchester on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016.

Zickafoose stuffed the Manchester offense with 11 tackles, including 10 solos, on Saturday. He equaled Mitch Agner's (2008) school record with five tackles-for-loss. The defensive tackle also made his presence known with three sacks, a forced fumble and a recovery in the Beaver victory.

The defensive lineman was instrumental in Bluffton limiting Manchester to just 55 yards of total offense, including -10 yards on the ground, both lows during Coach Dorrel's tenure at the helm. Zickafoose is already tied for 5th on the single-season TFL's list with 16 TFL's and his eight sacks are 4th for a season.

Zickafoose is the fourth HCAC Player of the Week for the Beavers this season and the third in as many weeks. Jake Harmon (Van Wert/Crestview) was the HCAC Defensive Player of the Week after a 14-tackle performance in Bluffton's Homecoming win over Hanover last week. Senior running back Dante Carroll (Gahanna/Lincoln) was the Heartland Offensive Player of the Week following Bluffton's win at Trine on September 10. Freshman JERRELL POINTDEXTER (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) was the Heartland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after Bluffton's 66-22 win at Anderson thanks to a 75-yard punt return for a score.

The Beavers will travel to Rose-Hulman next Saturday, Oct. 29, at 1:30 P.M. for a crucial HCAC matchup as they fight for first place in the conference after the Engineers stunned #14 Franklin 23-22, leaving Bluffton as one of four teams with one loss in the HCAC, along with RHIT, MSJ and Franklin.
