Senior Center prepares for its annual garage sale Feb. 23-24-25

Held in conjunction with SHANNON Service Club's sale at The Centre

Bluffton Senior Center, 132 N. Main St., will hold its annual garage sale Thursday, Feb. 23 and Friday, Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon, according to Tonya Meyer, director.

This large fundraiser for the Senior Center is held in February to coincide with the SHANNON Club community garage sale at The Centre.

That sale is Friday, Feb. 24 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon.

“Many shoppers will come for one sale and stay for the other,” she said.

The Bluffton Senior Center will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 22, to prepare for its large sale.

Myer said, “The Bluffton Senior Center garage sale is made up of donated items from its members.

“Senior citizens are often in a state of downsizing - from a house to an apartment, condo to assisted living, etc.

“The Senior Center is one place where they can pass on possessions and it helps fund the Senior Center, as the garage sale is a big money maker for the Center.

The Senior Center does not take clothing or shoes, but the sale always has plenty of kitchen gadgets, collectables, decorations, tools, books, puzzles, music and movies and even antiques.

“This year there are many toys and some furniture as well. The sale will go on no matter what the weather may bring.”

She added that on Monday morning, Feb. 27, whatever is left over will be half price until the volunteers come to clean up the Center for the afternoon activities.
