Ride to Remember donates approximately $3,000 to pedestrian-bike pathway project

Last month’s Ride to Remember bicycle ride, with over 150 riders, generated approximately $3,000 for the Bluffton Pedestrian and Bike Pathway project.

That total was announced at this year’s Aug. 22 wrap-up meeting of the ride planning committee.

This year’s ride increased in riders and amount donated as last year’s first-ever ride had 101 participants, generating approximately $1,600 to the pathway project.

Bluffton food pantry in needs of supplies

The Bluffton Area Food Pantry has distributed food and other essential supplies to approximately 50 area families this summer.

The panty’s supplies are running a bit low and could use some reinforcements, according to Ed Yeager, board president of the Bluffton Community Assistance Program.

Item may be delivered to St. John’s United Church of Christ. The next distribution day is Saturday, Sept. 17.

Musical Jam at The Quarry Farm Sept. 10

Music of all kinds will fill the air on Saturday, Sept. 10, as The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm hosts the organization's annual Jam from 6 to 10 p.m. 

Whether you play an instrument like a virtuoso or just like to pretend, sing along or listen, people of all ages are invited to spend a sweet late summer evening with music under the outdoor pavilion's big red roof, alongside the calls from the nature preserve. The event is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome as they support The Quarry Farm's educational programming.

Kennedy Coughlan's 48 takes medalist honors in BHS win

Bluffton High School girls' golf team defeated North Baltimore on Aug. 22 by a 204 to 208 score. Kennedy Coughlan was medalist with a 48. Individual results follow:

Football: Under helm of Jeff Richards, Pirates travel to C-R on Friday

Under direction of new head coach Jeff Richards, the Bluffton Pirate football team opens their season Friday night at Cory-Rawson.  Bluffton will be looking to continue the momentum of a 7-3 season in 2015 but must replace many lost senior starters to do so. 

Head coach Jeff Richards was hired in January to replace Kyle Cutnaw who resigned after going 10-10 over two seasons at the helm of the program.  Richards graduated from Bluffton High in 2004 and played center on the football team under Dennis Lee.
