Themes in May's OVAL program at Bluffton Senior Center

May’s “Our Version of Adult Learning,” OVAL, at Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St., includes a variety of speakers and programs, according to Tonya Meyer, director.

SENIOR CENTER MAY NEWSLETTER ATTACHED -

Except for the English tea, classes are free and open to the public. The tea includes a minimal cost and pre-registration.

Monday, May 1, 9:30 a.m. – Carlin Carpenter, former Bluffton University football coach, will talk about his book, “Coaching Football Ain’t Easy – My Triumphs and Tribulations at Bluffton College.”

Thursday, May 4, 3 p.m. – Olwen Pritchard will host an English tea, showing how to make a proper pot of tea. She’ll also tell about England, where she was born. This session is limited to 20 persons. Registration required, $5 for center members, $8 for non-members.

Monday, May 8, 9:30 a.m. – Jonah Agner of The Food Store, will present Easy Healthy Cooking. His talk will include a meal of grains and vegetables using a rice cooker. This macro-bowl meal is high in fiber, low in fat and uses very little oil.

Monday, May 15, 9:30 a.m. – Jim Bemiller will share how he lives in a seeing world without seeing. He’ll reveal things like how to tell if his sock match and how he knows the different paper money currencies.
