School's out - but it's still a busy summer

Here's an elementary, middle school, high school update

School is out for the summer, but several school programs are in session. Here's an update on school summer activities from the school website:

Superintendent's office
Open all summer - Mondays to Fridays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bluffton High School
June office hours – Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Closed July - Reopens in August

The buzz-in system will not be used during summer months. The high school doors are open at College Avenue and Jackson Street, unless cleaning is taking place.

 2017-18 seniors
All students who will be a senior during the 2017-18 school year will be required to receive a meningococcal vaccine prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year. Your child may have already received one dose of this vaccine; however there is a 2-dose requirement if the first dose was given before the age of 16.  Drop off proof of the vaccination to the BHS office prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year.

Lady Pirate Som-R-Beast/Barbell Club
The Lady Pirate summer lifting incentive program will be held at the Ricky Matter Center on Monday-Wednesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to noon.  Circuits: June 17; July 1, 22, 29 and Aug. 5, 12, 19, 29; Running club on Fridays.

Volleyball open gyms
Volleyball open gyms are being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. in the middle school gym.

Boy's basketball open gym in middle school gym:
• MS OPEN GYM: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in MS
• HS OPEN GYM:  Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in HS

Girl's basketball open gym
Sundays 5-6:30 p.m. and Wednesdays 7-8:30 p.m. in the H.S. gym.

Yearbook orders for 2016-17
The cost is $65. Go to the school's website homepage and click on "Order your yearbook" and follow the directions.

Summer weight room hours
Ricky Matter Center will be open for summer lifting on the following days and times beginning May 31 for football and boy’s soccer and June 2 for girl’s lifting and all open lifting times:

HS Football M-Th 8-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.
MS Football and Open Lifting Tue and Thur 7-8 p.m.
Boy’s Soccer and Open Lifting Tues and Thurs 7-8 p.m.
Girl’s and Open Lifting M-W-F 10-noon and Saturday Circuits at 9 a.m.

Bluffton Middle School
June office hours – Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Closed July - Reopens in August

• Friday, Aug 18, and Monday, Aug. 21 - Middle School/High School registration for 2017-2018 school year
• Wednesday, Aug. 30 - ACPH Teen Immunization Clinic – 2 – 5 p.m. Call for an appointment.

Washington, D.C. pictures
Any 8th grader and/or chaperone who went on the trip to Washington, D.C. - your group picture is in the office and can be picked up during the summer hours listed above.

Allen County teen immunization clinic
Allen County Public Health will be hosting a “special” Teen Immunization Clinic on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 2-5 p.m. The clinic will be for pre-teens and teens entering grades 7 through 12 only.  All required school vaccines will be offered as well as recommended vaccines. Call Allen County Public Health at 419-228-4457 to schedule an appointment. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Yearbooks are in
The 2016-2017 yearbooks have arrived in the office. Extra copies are on sale for $25 if you did not have an opportunity to order. 

Bluffton Elementary Office
June office hours – Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Workbook fees
Workbook fees for the 2017-2018 school year are as follows:  

Two-year Kindergarten - $26
Kindergarten - $42
1st grade - $34
2nd grade - $25
3rd grade - $42
4th grade - $43
5th grade - $47
You may send one check for all your elementary students. Please note on the memo line your child and grade level. For security reasons, please send the check in a sealed envelope marked “Student Workbook Fees” with the student and teacher name. Please pay your child’s workbook fees by Oct. 16.
