WYOMING, Mich. - It took extra time, but the result was well worth it as the Bluffton University women's soccer team tasted sweet victory for the first time since October 20, 2015, when the Beavers downed Grace Bible College 2-1 on Saturday, Sept. 9. Bluffton improved to 1-3, while GBC dropped to 1-2.

Sophomore Lauryn Foster-Wheeler (Sidney) collected a feed from freshman Tajah Upshaw (Lima/Senior) at the 54:22 mark and nailed the equalizer early in period two. The score was still 1-1 when the horn sounded after 90 minutes of back-and-forth action.

Upshaw found junior Skylar Liming (St. Marys/Memorial) for the clincher just over seven minutes into the first overtime period, handing the Beavers their first victory since they knocked off rival Defiance College in 2015!

Liming led the visitors with four shots, while Foster-Wheeler and Caroline Schutz (Rawson/Cory-Rawson) chipped in with three apiece. Freshman keeper Sienna Sullivan (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) picked up 10 saves for her first collegiate victory in goal.

Bluffton is off until next Saturday, Sept. 16, when the Beavers welcome Baldwin Wallace for the first match of a women's and men's doubleheader with the Yellow Jackets at 1 p.m.
