James Clifford Davis worked 36 years at Ford plant

James Clifford Davis, 68, of Lafayette, died Feb. 9, 2018, at 8:22 p.m. in his home surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 22, 1949, in Bryan, Ohio, to Howard and Mary (Barrett) Davis who preceded him in death. On June 30, 1972, he married Agnes (Metheney) Davis who survives.

James graduated from Lima Central Catholic High School, then enlisted in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, he found employment at Ford's Lima engine plant.

During his 36 years there, he served as a union rep and fulfilled other various roles within the company. James was a black belt karate instructor for many years.

Survivors include: three children; Valta I. (Chris) Brown of Lima, Aaron James (Jen Leiber) Davis of Bluffton, Abram (Kayla Pifer) Davis of Lafayette, six grandchildren; Elijah, Madison, Chloe, Pyper, Sydney, Jaxson; and three sisters.

James was preceded in death by a son, Isaac Davis, two infant children, five brothers, and two sisters.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery with military rites following the service.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 13, 6-7:30 p.m. with a wake service starting at 7:30 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

In lieu of flowers, the family has request that all memorial contributions be made to Chiles-Laman Funeral Home for the arrangements of James. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
