Rev. Charles Warren was pastor emeritus at Ebenezer Mennonite

He and his wife were in the mission field in India for 39 years

Rev. Charles E.  Warren, 96, of Bluffton, died May 6, 2018, at his daughter's residence in Pekin, Illinois.  Charles was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Pana, Illinois to the late Zed McNarry and Jennie (Read) Warren. On Oct. 14, 1944 he married Anita Steiner Warren who preceded him in death on June 11, 2002.

Charles was a graduate of Pana High School in Pana, Illinois, Wheaton College and also earned a Master's Degree in Theology at Wheaton Graduate Department, The Orlinda Childs Pierce Memorial School of Theology. 

Charles and his wife, Anita had been involved as missionaries with The Evangelical Alliance Mission (Team) in India for 39 years.  During this time Charles served as Chairman of TEAM's North India Field, Chairman of the Christian Education Department of the Evangelical Fellowship of India, and Chairman of LIT-India, a TEAM ministry training lay leaders through correspondence courses. 

He also pastored the Union Church in Mussoorie, India, for 10 years.  From 1974 - 1985 he was senior pastor of Delhi Bible Fellowship, New Delhi, India.

Charles and Anita returned to the United States in January, 1986.  From May, 1986 until November, 1991, Charles was the Senior Pastor of Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton, and was named Pastor Emeritus of the church serving on the staff until June, 2017. 

Charles said that the Ebenezer Mennonite congregation has a great heart for missions and has an outreach through its missionaries to 27 different countries throughout the world. 

Survivors include five children, Beth (Gordon) Baker of Pekin, Illinois, Ruth (Dale) Seefeldt of Bluffton, Dora Warren, CDC, Yangon, Myanmar, Jonathan (Camila) Warren of Federal Way, Washington, Barbara (Paul) Windsor, SAIACS, Bangalore, India; 13 grandchildren, Geoffrey (Amy) Baker, Genevieve (Wungram) Shishak, Amy Seefeldt, Cheryl (David) Bedenbaugh, Jonathan (Linda) Seefeldt, Daniel (Alison) Warren, Benjamin (Sarah) Warren, Rachel  (Nathanial) Mokry, Stephen  Windsor, Alyssa (Tim) Hart, Martin Windsor, Bethany (Jonathan) McCullum, Joseph (Zoe Hingmather) Windsor; 10 great grandchildren, Siona and Lily Shishak, Abner and Petra Seefeldt, Annika, Finn, and Ezra Warren, Micah, Amaliya and Lucia Hart.

Charles was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Everett, Roscoe, Wilbur and John Warren; and one sister, Helen Hawker. 

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 26, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Pastor Jim King officiating. A private family graveside will be held in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery, Bluffton. The family will receive friends prior to and following the service at the church.
