Traditional Memorial Day events planned here May 28

Parade, ceremony at Maple Grove, chicken barbecue

Bluffton will observe Memorial Day with traditional events on Monday, May 28.

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will hold a parade from the town hall to Maple Grove Cemetery. Line up is 9:15 a.m. and the parade starts at 9:30 a.m.

A 10 a.m. ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. Lt. Ryan Benroth, a 2005 Bluffton High School graduate and 2012 U.S. Naval Academy graduate, is the speaker.

In 2017 he was selected as the USS Georgia's Junior Officer of the Year. Lt. Benroth is assigned as an Assistant Professor of Naval Science and Nuclear Propulsion and Submarine Warfare Advisor at NROTC Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

He and his wife, Elizabeth, and their son, Ayden Lee, live in Union City, Ohio.

Following the ceremony the legion will hold a chicken barbecue in Citizens National Bank parking lot from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $8.50 each. A drive-through pick up is available.
