Leland Badertscher was retired from Lima Ford Engine Plant

Graduated from Pandora High School, served in WWII

Leland D. Badertscher, 98, died Sept. 4, 2018, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.  Leland was born July 7, 1920, in Allen County, Ohio, to the late Arthur and Lydia (Seyer) Badertscher.  On Oct. 11, 1944 he married Ima Jean Montgomery Badertscher who preceded him in death on June 4, 2016.

Leland graduated from Pandora High School, served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from the Lima Ford Engine Plant.  He was a member of Riley Creek Baptist Church, Bluffton, and the American Legion Post #382, Bluffton. 

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Honse of Findlay, Karen (Donald) Brown of Bluffton; six grandchildren, Dave (Andrea) Honse, Linda (Scott) Deal, Chad (Raechel) Brown, Jason Brown, Cindy (Dennis) Lee, Angela (Jacob) Carr; 12 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Leland was preceded in death by a son, Roger Badertscher; a son in law, Dave Honse; three brothers, Leonard Badertscher, Lorain Badertscher, Lester Badertscher and a sister, Lucille Hunt.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.  Pastor David Lanquist officiating.  Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery where military rites will be performed.  Visitation will be Monday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Creek Baptist Church or the Mennonite Memorial Home.
