A soccer goal heard "around the town"

Dr. Mark Yoder shares this series of photos with Icon viewers

Dr. Mark Yoder took this series of photos of Jackson Steinmetz scoring a goal at the 40-minute mark in Wednesday’s BHS boys’ soccer tournament game against Lincolnview. Luke Young provided the goal assist.

Bluffton won the game 5-0 to advance to district play versus Continental at Kalida on Wednesday, Oct. 24, with a 5 p.m. kickoff.

But, there is much, much more to this story.
• This was the final goal scored in the game
• and the final goal scored on Steinmetz Field this season
• scored by Jackson Steinmetz, senior,
• in his final match at a field
• named after his grandfather, Dr. Mark Steinmetz.

Here’s a portion of  Mark Yoder’s post from his Facebook about the photo setting.

“I know to those present that the fifth and final goal at the end of the game may appear to be just another shot at the net, but I almost had to stop shooting as a tear came to my eye.... what a beautiful thing to see a coach and a group of guys that care about each other actively work together to allow Jackson Steinmetz to score the final goal in his last match at a field named after his grandfather.
