Leaf pick up ends Dec. 6

Council will interview 3 for solicitor position

Monday's council agenda attached at bottom of story -

About those falling leaves.

The village will continue its leaf pick up until Thursday, Dec. 6, announced Bryan Lloyd, assistant village administrator, during Monday’s Bluffton council meeting.

The weather, of course, had hindered this fall’s leaf pickup. Lloyd said that after Dec. 6 residents with leaves may place them in biodegradable bags at the curb for Wednesday brush pick up. Residents may also continue to use the Spring Street brush dump for leaf deposit.

One note concerning leaf pick up: Residents need to place leaves along street side of their property and not along alleys. The equipment used for leaf pick up is not designed for tight spaces and tight turns, common in Bluffton alleys.

Bluffton council will hold a 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 3, meeting of the whole to interview candidates for village solicitor. The meeting will go into executive session. According to Richard Johnson, mayor, three persons will be interviewed.

Stephen Chamberlain is the present solicitor. His contract expires at the end of the year.

Several additional council committee meetings and council meeting dates were set on Monday:

• Ordinance, Monday, Dec. 3, 5:30 p.m.
• Council as a whole, Tuesday, Dec. 4, 5:30 p.m. – to discuss water main replacement locations on Jefferson Street
• Final council meeting of 2018 – moved from Monday, Dec. 24, to Monday, Dec. 17.
