Don Hamilton, Bluffton College grad, coached football at BHS

Donald "Don" R. Hamilton, 72, died at 5:40 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at Lima Memorial Hospital.  He was born Feb. 22, 1946, in Lima, to Richard J. Hamilton and Helen L. (Edwards) Hamilton Braunagel.  They both preceded him in death. 

On Dec. 21, 1968, he married Susan Malin, and she survives in Waynesfield. 

Don is survived by two daughters, AshLee (Tim) Hamilton McGranor and AuBree (Ryan) Lucas both of Columbus; five grandchildren, Malin, Sylvia, Cyrus, Elliott and Sullivan; and one sister, Kay (Gary) Downing of Columbus Grove.   

He was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Hamilton, and one sister, Carol Zeller. 

Don was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1964 and Bluffton College, class of 1968, with a Bachelor of  Business Administration. 

He played football and baseball while at Bluffton College.  Don taught at Hardin Northern, Bluffton and Bath High Schools.  He was a football coach at all three schools, having been the head coach at Bluffton, winning the NWC Championship his last year there.  

In addition to teaching, he sold real estate for Ron Spencer for over 35 years.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima, where he served as an usher for many years. 

Services will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Pastor Megan Croy will officiate with burial to follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. 

Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec.14, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home.
