Guys and Dolls university May Day musical

May 3 and 4 in Founders Hall; tickets now on sale

Bluffton University will present “Guys and Dolls,” forit May Day musical Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, in Founders Hall.

“Guys and Dolls” depicts gambler Nathan Detroit, who is seeking cash to set up the biggest craps game in town, but both the authorities and his fiancé of 14 years are breathing down his neck.

When Detroit makes a bet with a fellow gambler’s love life, this oddball romantic comedy takes us from Times Square to Cuba to the sewers of New York City.

Tickets are on sale for the musical with lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.

Dr. Melissa Friesen, a professor and chair of communication and theatre at Bluffton, will direct the show, to be staged at 7:30 p.m. each evening in Founders Hall.

Dr. Crystal Sellers Battle, an associate professor of music and chair of music, is musical director.
