Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services hold Tree of Remembrances service Dec. 7

On Saturday, Dec. 7,  at the Centre at Bluffton, 601 N. Main St., Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services will be holding a Tree of Remembrance Memorial Service for those who have lost a loved one this year or in years past.  

"The holidays can be a particularly difficult time to cope with the loss of a loved one and the Tree of Remembrance Memorial Service provides a forum where families can come together to express their grief, but also find peace," said Jon Kinn of Chiles-Laman.

Women's soccer: Aimee Whitmer named to HCAC first team

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior Aimee Whitmer (Grand Rapids/Otsego) capped her superb career at Bluffton by being named first team All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for the 2013 women's soccer season. Freshman Abby Karikas (Curtice/Genoa Area) was selected honorable mention All-HCAC after anchoring the Beaver defense in her first season at Bluffton.

Hospitalized infants mark arrival of flu season

Allen County Public Health had two cases of hospitalized Infants less than 12 months of age reported having Seasonal Influenza in October.  

"We want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that in order to protect our smallest citizens, it is important that everyone get a flu shot," said Becky Dershem of the health department. 

The CDC recommends flu vaccines for everyone – 6 months of age and older.  The vaccine will be available at  the Allen County Health Department: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 8-9 a.m. and 3-4 p.m. or by appointment.
