Bluffton University President’s Forum set for Sept. 10

 

Dr. James M. Harder, president of Bluffton University, will present the annual President’s Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, in Founders Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Harder will offer perspectives on the start of a new academic year—Bluffton’s 114th—and describe several institutional initiatives for the year. This is also the 100th year since Bluffton adopted its longstanding motto, “The Truth Makes Free,” and the president will reflect on what that means in the context of a Bluffton education.

Women's soccer: Bluffton thumps Andrews University

The Bluffton University women’s soccer team rebounded from its Saturday overtime loss in a big way as they defeated the Andrews University Cardinals 8-0 in front of a solid Labor Day crowd at Bluffton High School’s Steinmetz Field on Monday, Sept. 2.

Don and Jodi Brauen's annual gourd open house Sept. 7-8

Brauen's Gourds will hold a fall open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, and 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8.

The open house is at the rural residence of Don and Jody Brauen, 7140 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton. Hundreds of decorative gourds will be available for sale. The gourds are created in an assortment of themes from seasonal to sports teams.

MMH and Maple Crest events set for Sept. 28 fall festival

As part of Bluffton's Saturday, Sept. 28, fall festival, Mennonite Memorial Home and Maple Crest will hold several events.

At Mennonite Memorial Home
• Silent acution, bake sale, luncheon, kettle corn, horse and wage ride, straw dig and kiddie train ride

At Maple Crest
• Apple crisp and cinnamon ice cream, antique tractor show and kiddie tractor pull, fishing derby
