Bluffton Lions Club June newsletter now on The Icon

Nathan Bunch, 2013 Bluffton High School graduate and recipient of a $500 scholarship from the Bluffton Lions Club, shared information about himself and his future plans at the June 4 Lions meeting.

"Eat my bubbles" proclaims the message written on the back of a Bluffton swim team members. Bluffton and Ada competed against each other at the Bluffton pool on Monday evening.

Monsters University starts June 28 with Despicable Me 2 starting July 4 at Shannon Theatre

Monsters University (G) will start playing on Thursday, June 28 through Tuesday, July 2.

Show times are every evening at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Matinees starting Friday and running daily at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Premiering Wednesday, July 4 will be Despicable Me 2 (PG).

Show times are every evening at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Matinees daily through Sunday showings at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn flavors of the month for July are Spicy Jalapeno &

Helen Hilty, second-ever Maple Crest resident to celebrate 100th birthday

June 21 brought a milestone in Maple Crest, Bluffton, history and in the life of  Maple Crest resident Helen Hilty. 

Helen is only the second resident to celebrate her 100th birthday while living at Maple Crest. Kathryn Van Dyke was the very first, on Feb. 3, 2013.

Krysti's Music Studio offers youth art camp July 15-18

Krysti's Music Studio, 334 S. Main St., Bluffton, will hold an Art Camp for youth Monday through Thursday, July 15-18, at the Bluffton studio, according to Krysti Schey, studio owner.

Times to choose from are 10 a.m. to noon or 6 to 8 p.m. Depending upon the number of registrants a 2 to 4 p.m. time slot may open.

"This camp is for youth ages 5 through high school. The cost is $66 total, or only $35 if the student is also taking summer music lessons," said Schey.

Letter: Relay for Life entertainers, we can't thank you enough

 

Dear Relay for Life Entertainment,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful people who gave up their precious time to entertain the people at the Relay for Life 2013. 

Jim Hights and the band, Wendy Chappelll-Dick and Family, Breanna Boecher and the Health Trend  gymnastic group, Sue Sheehan from BFR ,  Kathy Boehm, Bethel Church,  The Cloggers  Nick Nolan and the DJ .

A special thanks to all the teams who did their part of the entertainment. Making Strides(Polish), you were a wonderful team to be a member of.
