Photo-story: Arbor Day dig at Village Arboretum

The Village of Bluffton tree commission celebrated Arbor Day (April 29) by planting a magnolia at the Village Arboreum on Saturday, April 30. The process became a lesson in tree planting for an enthusiastic young participant, Sam Stahl.

Library board welcomes Chanda Smith

The Bluffton Public Library administration and board has welcomed a new trustee, ​C​handa Smith, who is the librarian at Ada Exempted Village Schools.

Village meetings scheduled for May 5-9

The Village of Bluffton has scheduled the following meetings. All are at the Town Hall, 154 N. Main, unless noted. Please contact Jesse Blackburn at [email protected] for links to Zoom meetings.

 

Pathway Board meeting on Thursday, May 5, at noon.

Personnel Committee on Monday, May 9 at noon, via Zoom.

Village Council meeting on Monday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m.

April 25 Village Council summary

Mayor Rich Johnson presided over the meeting, which began with the approval of April 11 meeting minutes and bills (see attached).

PUBLIC COMMENT

Lyle Henry addressed council on the larger national context of thin blue line flags.

BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

Village administrator Jesse Blackburn provided council with updates on the April 11 Public Hearing regarding construction drawings for Chestnut Lane residential development. (See attachment).

Apollo Board meets on April 27; action includes hiring part-time instructors and approving scholarships

The Apollo Career Center Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. at 3325 Shawnee Rd. Lima, with the agenda attached to this article.

Items on the agenda include hiring some 75 part-time instructors and approving some 25 scholarships.

Bluffton is represented on the board by Mr. Brad Fruchey, pictured with representatives from the school districts served by Apollo High School programs.

Agenda for April 25 School Board meeting

Bluffton Exempted Village Schools Board of Education will hold a Regular Meeting at 7:30 p.m. on April 25, 2022 in the elementary school media center, 102 S. Jackson St.

The school board will review and vote whether to approve minutes and reports from the March 21 regular meeting, invite visitors to address the board, review and vote to approve treasurer’s transactions (including appropriations modifications) and hear reports from administrators.
