Unofficial results for Bluffton School Board, Village Council, and Richland Trustees

The Allen County Board of Elections has reported following unofficial results for the November 2, 2021 General Election in the Village of Bluffton.

Bradley J. Dailey 959 votes*

Mitch Giesige 498 votes

Roni L. Kaufman 777 votes*

Wesley L. Klinger 845 votes*

Village of Bluffton Council and committee meetings scheduled

The Village of Bluffton has established the following committee meetings at Bluffton Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

Finance Committee – Wednesday, October 27 at noon.

Utilities Committee – Monday, November 1 at 1:00 p.m.

Streets, Alleys, Lights & Sidewalk Committee - Monday, November 1 at 5:30 p.m.

Parks & Recreation Committee – Thursday, November 4 at noon.

Village Council – Monday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m.

October 25 Village Council report

The October 25 Village of Bluffton council meeting was dominated by two public hearings involving real estate development. Both items were approved by Council as described below.

Bluffton Schools update COVID notification, cafeteria use

As announced by text message alert, starting Monday, Oct. 25, the Bluffton schools will post a letter under the alert section on the schools website of any positive COVID case at the end of each day. The schools will not send text alerts out for each case.

The alert also noted that next week [Monday, October 25], grades 3, 4, 5 and 8 will return to the cafeteria for lunch. Students will be spread out, including the use of the middle section of the cafetorium and eat with their class.

October Board of Education meeting notes

The Bluffton Board of Education met in the Elementary School media center on October 18 with an audience of nine including the Bluffton Icon.

Among contracts approved by the board was bus driver Deborah Hilty, hired for a 60 day trial period at 4 hours per day.

Middle school principal Josh Kauffman noted that amidst the tight hiring market for drivers, that “knock on wood,” the Bluffton schools are in good shape with drivers and substitute drivers.
