Village meetings announced for Aug. 11 and 23

Committee meeting and council meetings set

The Village of Bluffton will hold meetings in August at Town Hall on August 11 and 23. Contact Jesse Blackburn, [email protected], for the link to the Zoom meeting.

  • Joint Utilities and Finance Committees - Wednesday, August 11 at 5:30 p.m.

Village focuses on internet security and reliability

Amber Troutwine of Perry proTECH gave a presentation during the Finance Committee meeting, July 15, detailing the current internet network in use by the Village. Some wireless connections are either currently not working or very slow and lack cyber security. It was proposed to update these connections with reliable internet and improve security. The plan was quoted at $8,603.83. The Finance Committee agreed to continue with the proposal. Initial taps and connections for a virtual private network (VPN) are scheduled for installation by Spectrum on or before Friday, July 30.

School board will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Agenda includes a review of contracts and assignments

Bluffton school board will review its "Service Fund" at the July 19 meeting.

In addition, the board will act on appointing Paula Parish, treasurer, Wesley Klinger, board president, and Greg Denecker, superintendent, to the Records Commission for the 2021-2022 school year.

The board will also review several contracts and assignments, including changes in hours, new classified employees, supplemental contracts, classified substitutes, and substitute teachers.

Bluffton Planning Commission meeting set

The Village of Bluffton Planning Commission plans to meet on Tuesday, July 20 at 5:00 p.m. on the third floor of the Town Hall. The meeting will serve as a pre-application conference for a potential major subdivision off of Sunset Drive.

Council discusses credit card policy, street signs, and more

Additional speed radar signs in discussion

The council packet for the July 12 meeting included an update from the Streets, Lights, Alleys, and Sidewalks Committee. The committee's report includes a report of discussion surrounding street parking, speed radar signs, crack sealing, and new street name signs.

The proposed new street name sign design is a white sign with black lettering. Additional information can be found in the council packet.

On the administrator's report is a thank-you to SumiRiko volunteers who prepared twenty planting spots for trees along W. Elm Street scheduled for planting this fall.

School board will act on three-year OAPSE contract

School administrators to receive 2.9 percent salary increase

Bluffton school board will take action on Monday concerning several back-to-school matters.

In addition, the board will act on a three-year collective bargaining agreement with its Ohio Association Public School Employees (OAPSE) covering July 1 2021, through June 30, 2024.

The agenda also includes a 2.9 percent pay raise for Greg Denecker, Michael Minnig, Joshua Kauffman, Paula Parish and Marden Herr. The raises cover Aug. 1, 2021 through July 31, 2014.
