Adult volleyball league starts in early January

Register by Dec. 29 at BFR

Bluffton Family Recreation is taking team registrations for a winter adult volleyball league to begin in January.

Games are Thursday evenings from Jan. 4 through Feb. 8. Games begin at 6 p.m. The final week of play is a single-elimination tournament.

Registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 29. Register online by clicking here or call BFR at 419-358-4150. A $50 team deposit is required. The cost for each team is $150.

Lots of opportunities for youth at BFR in January

Lots of youth opportunities begin in January at Bluffton Family Recreation, 2015 Snider Road, Bluffton. Here's a list and membership details is at the bottom of the story.

SilverSneaker breakfast Dec. 21 at BFR

A SilverSneakers breakfast takes place at Bluffton Family Recreation at 9 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, according to Amy Byers, sports director.

The breakfast is catered by The Good Samaritan of Arlington. The breakfast includes a hot breakfast and fruit.

Monday             5:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Tuesday            5:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Wednesday       5:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Thursday           5:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Friday                5:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday            8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday              8 a.m. – 9 p.m.

BFR repurposed shoe drive continues

Over 3,800 pair of shoes already collected

If you've not yet donated your used shoes to Bluffton Family Recreation, there's still time. But, that time is growing short.

To date BFR has collected a little over 152 bags of shoes (25 pair to a bag). That translates to around 3,800 pair of shoes.

This is BFR’s fourth shoe drive, which generates money for BFR programs and recycles old shoes. BFR earns money for shoes collected. Since 2014, the project has generated over $4,000 to BFR.

Last year’s drive, BFR’s largest ever, generated $2,021.

League play, tournaments and individual opportunities

BFR releases programming plans for first half of 2018

Bluffton Family Recreation announces its schedule of programming and tournaments for the first half of 2018, according to Amy Byers, sports coordinator.

The events in January, February and March are already set. Events in April through July are in the planning stages. Watch the Icon for more details on those.
