BFR unveils spring classes for youth and adults

Several new options offered

Bluffton Family Recreation is ready for spring - are you?

A wide selection of class offerings for youth and adults take place during April and May, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

A 4-page printer-friendly spring newsletter listing all the offerings is attached at the bottom of this story.

There are several new and several expanded classes. For youth a May 5 kid's out takes place on the same evening at the Bluffton Athletic Boosters reverse raffle.

Youth flag football, U-6 soccer, 4th-6th grade volleyball

BFR registrations due by March 18

Several Bluffton Family Recreation classes have registration deadlines coming up on Sunday, March 18, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR director.

These include:

Youth Flag Football
April 7 - May 12 Saturday Mornings
6-12 year old boys and girls
$75 Nonmember/$40 Member

U-6 Soccer
April 3 - May 10 Tuesdays and Thursdays
4-6 year old boys and girls
$60 Non-Members/$30 Members

It's a new season of BFR fitness classes

Everything from Aerobics, TRX, water aerobic, SilverSneakers, to yoga

The entire fitness class schedule is attached at the bottom in a printer-friendly format.

Bluffton Family Recreation fitness classes are in place for late winter and spring, according to Daniel Tinch, director. The new schedule started this week.

There are several new features and times of classes. One of the new classes covers Total-body Resistance Exercise (TRX).

TRX Demo Week at BFR

Total-body Resistance Exercise

It’s TRX Demo Week at Bluffton Family Recreation.

Demonstrations for six different TRX (Total-body Resistance Exercise) are scheduled at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.

• Wednesday – Feb. 21, 5:30 p.m. – TRX
• Thursday – Feb. 22, 5:30 a.m. – TRX
• Thursday – Feb. 22, 6 p.m. – TRX
• Thursday – Feb. 22, 7 p.m. – TRX Circuit
• Friday, Feb. 23, 5:30 p.m. – TRX
• Saturday, Feb. 24, 8 a.m. – Prenatal TRX

Coffee's on at BFR

The coffee is on at Bluffton Family Recreation.

Amy Byers, BFR sports coordinator, invites Icon viewers to drop in at BFR on Thursdays from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

That’s when Coffee Walks take place. The coffee and walks are free to BFR members and track pass holders. Twisted Whisk Café sponsors the coffee.

Coffee walks take place each Thursday through the end of March. 

Bluffton alum named BFR executive director

Since 2014 he served as membership director of the Findlay Family YMCA

Daniel Tinch is the new executive director of Bluffton Family Recreation, according to Amy Blackburn, BFR board president. His first day at BFR was Feb. 12.

“We are very excited to have Tinch lead our staff,” said Blackburn. “He has several connections to our community and his six years experience with YMCAs will certainly enhance our programming.”
