Cleaning off your bookshelves? Friends of the Library would appreciate your donations

"The Friends of the Library are planning the fall book sale and we need books!" Sallie Jones of the Friends told The Icon.

Q: What type of books?
A: Histories, mysteries, novels any or current books. 

She asks that persons do not donate text books or encyclopedias. Proceeds ffom the book sale provides programs and projects for the library. 

Last year the Friends' projects enable the library to purchase a new overhead projector system. 

Books for future book sales may be dropped off at the library, 154 S. Main St., Bluffton.

To bike or not to bike...that is not a question

Burma Shave-type signs show up along Ride to Remember route

Viewers who checked out the Iconoclast View column see a vision of many Burma Shave signs in front of them.

The signs were created for Saturday’s Ride to Remember bike ride by Bluffton Public Library staff.

The signs were place along the various bike routes to keep bikers entertained. And, according to questionnaires filled out by participants following the ride, the signs were a big hit.

The zoo returns to the library Wednesday with more animals an a lively program

If you thought the armadillo from the Toledo Zoo was pretty neat, then you've love the zoo's next visit to the Bluffton Public Library.

It's at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13. The topic is "animal classification." The free program for Kindergarten through fifth gradeers and prior registration is necessary due to space limitations.

Children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult. The program is in the Richland Room on the library's lower level.

There’s still time to participate in the Bluffton Public Librtary summer program and reading challenge this year: “Our Library, Our Community: Healthy Together.”

This year’s theme has an emphasis on supporting a healthy body, mind and spirit through library programs, materials, and services for all ages.

To participate in the Summer Reading Challenge, simply register in person at the library.
