“Phantoms of Film” series open Oct. 29

In Grace Albrecht Gallery through Dec. 6

Bluffton University’s Grace Albrecht Gallery will host “Phantoms of Film” by Whitney Goller.

“Phantoms of Film” is a series of oil paintings exploring contemporary American myths. The phantoms to which the show’s title refers are our contemporary monsters. Except, something interesting has happened: we no longer are called to fear the monsters, we are asked instead to understand them.

Opening Oct. 29, the exhibit is free and open to the public through Dec. 6

Extra layer of protection

Protective covers are used in many Division I programs, but Bluffton is an early adopter among Division III schools.

Just as pads, cleats and jerseys have become essential gear during team practices, Bluffton University football has added a new piece of equipment to its practice lineup—Guardian Caps.

The soft-shell helmet covers can absorb up to 33 percent of the impact in a collision according to the manufacturer and are able to more effectively manage the impact of repetitive and cumulative blows than a helmet alone.
