April 3 Forum: “100 Years of Conscientious Objection to War: Conscience, Dissent, Resistance, and Civil Liberties from World War I through Today,” Forum by Michael Mears, Jake Short, Bill Galvin, Center for Conscience and War, 11 a.m., Yoder Recital Hall.

University archivist to explore the evolution of the “Martyrs Mirror”

Carrie Phillips, archives and special collections librarian, will present “Linen, Leather, Linseed Oil and Lampblack: A recipe for the 1748 Ephrata ‘Martyrs Mirror,’” during a 4 p.m. colloquium presentation on Friday, April 6, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.

Dr. Jane Wood, president-elect, introduced to Bluffton community

For just the10th time in its 119-year history, Bluffton University has named a new president, with Dr. Jane Wood accepting the call to serve beginning July 1, 2018.

Bluffton senior to share departmental honors project

Laura Galley, a Bluffton University senior food and nutrition major, will  present “Nutrition Assessment of Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen, Hancock County, Indiana” during an 11 a.m. Forum on Tuesday, April 3, in the Reading Room of Musselman Library.

Galley, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., will discuss her departmental honors project including an assessment of the food quality at the soup kitchen where she worked as an intern during the summer of 2017. 

This event is free and open to the public.

Albion pitches 3-0 shutout in win over Beavers

ALBION, Mich. - The Bluffton University baseball crew traveled to Michigan for a matchup with Albion College on a cold Tuesday, March 20. Bluffton received a pair of super pitching performance but the defense and bats came up empty against a Briton team that had a 1-9 mark heading into the game. The 3-0 setback dropped the Beavers to 9-6 after opening 8-2 to start the season.

April 3 presentations explore conscientious objection to war

Programs by Center for Conscience and War

British Actor and playwright Michael Mears along with Maria Santelli and Jake Short, executive director and administrative and outreach coordinator, respectively for the Center for Conscience and War, will give two presentations on April 3 on the campus of Bluffton University.

At 11 a.m. in Yoder Recital Hall, Mears, Santelli and Short, a 2010 Bluffton graduate, will present “100 Years of Conscientious Objection to War: Conscience, Dissent, Resistance and Civil Liberties from World War I through Today.”
