Thursday book release celebration

A book release celebration for “Education with the Grain of the Universe: A Peaceable Vision for the Future of Mennonite Schools, Colleges, and Universities” will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, in the Musselman Library Reading Room.
 
Edited by Dr. J. Denny Weaver, professor emeritus of religion at Bluffton, the book features how 18 contributors shape philosophies of Mennonite higher education as they explore intersections of educational theories and practices with Anabaptism, Mennonite thought and peacemaking.
 

Weisgarber named HCAC Player of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Junior Erin Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) has been named the Heartland Conference Player of the Week after leading the Beavers to a 3-0 mark, including a pair of HCAC victories.

The dynamic signal caller had 19 kills against just 1 error for a .486 hitting percentage while doling out 107 assists (10.7 APG). Weisgarber also tallied 38 digs and five total blocks for the week.

Weisgarber is up to #3 all-time with 3,313 career assists, trailing just Shauna Rowland (3,695) and Jayne Miller (4,275).

Relevant themes and issues lead to staging “The Crucible”

Nov. 2-4 in Ramseyer Auditorium

Written in the early 1950s and staged in 1959 for the first time at Bluffton, “The Crucible” will return to campus Nov. 2-5 as the 2017 fall play.

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Bluffton University harriers went in to the HCAC cross country championships with many goals, both individually as well as collectively as teams. Many were realized, a few even greatly exceeded during two hotly contested championship races.
