50th university juried student art exhibit opens April 3

The Boehr Award will go to the best of show

The Bluffton University art department will present the 50th Juried Student Exhibition from April 3-28 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in Sauder Visual Arts Center. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will showcase work created this academic year by students in university art classes or supervised independent studies.

Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Ted & Company to perform during Spiritual Life Week

April 4 in Founders Hall

Bluffton University’s upcoming Spiritual Life Week will feature Ted & Company’s performance of “Laughter is Sacred Space” at 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, in Founders Hall. The event is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken.

Led by veteran actor Ted Swartz, Ted & Company TheaterWorks uses humor and professional storytelling to talk about issues of faith and social justice through live shows and other forms of media. 

University gospel choir in concert Saturday evening

Under the direction of Dr. Crystal Sellers Battle

Bluffton University’s Gospel Choir will present a concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in Yoder Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.
 
The concert will feature personal favorites of conductor, Dr. Crystal Sellers Battle, associate professor of music. Soloists will include community members who are in the choir, Kathy Grady of Findlay, and Marta Michalska-Uras, originally from the Czech Republic. Michalska-Uras was previously a member of the Maranatha Gospel Choir in Prague.

Bluffton University has changed significantly since Dr. Christina Sherry, medical science liaison at Abbott Nutrition in Columbus, Ohio, graduated in 2004.

Music education major senior recital April 8

Music education major Kimberly M. Meyer, of Defiance, Ohio, will present her Bluffton University senior recital at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in Yoder Recital Hall. The recital is free and open to the public; a reception will follow in the lobby.

Meyer’s program features 14 pieces in a variety of languages including: Latin, German, French and English. A mezzo-soprano, Meyer’s selections come from composers Bach, Mozart, Schubert, George Enescu and Ricky Ian Gordan.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University softball team hosted the Ohio Northern Polar Bears on a cloudy Tuesday afternoon. It took extra innings in both games to declare a winner, but the Beavers were able to get both those wins. The sweep of the Polar Bears saw Bluffton improve to 14-4 overall while Ohio Northern dropped to 15-3 on the season.
