2017 economic forecast talks offered by Citizens National Bank

Citizens National Bank is hosting a series of free seminars featuring economic forcasting for 2017 by Robert J. Morgan, Senior Consultant with Austin Associates, LLC.

Business owners are invited to hear Morgan. He will discuss current market conditions and what he expects to see in regards to unemployment, housing and the challenges facing business owners in the upcoming year.

Morgan will be speaking at four separate locations and a meal will be provided at each:

Bluffton Center for  Entrepreneurs will provide a free Facebook workshop following the Friday, Oct. 14, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

Paula Scott will provide workshop participants with some new tips and information on using Facebook to benefit your business. The workshop follows the chamber breakfast at 8:45 a.m. and is free and open to the public.

Quarterly Market Review: July-September 2016

The second quarter provided a bumpy ride for investors.

Following the upheaval caused by the Brexit vote in June, July kicked off the third quarter by ending the month in favorable fashion, as each of the indexes listed here posted month-to-month gains, led by the Russell 2000 (5.90%) and the Nasdaq (6.60%).

IRS taxes due phone scam going around the area

A Bluffton Icon viewer notified the Icon on Wednesday indicating that scammers are calling in the area stating they are IRS representatives.

The callers tell persons that the IRS will sue them because of federal taxes owed.

Ignore this call and report it to the Bluffton Police Department.
