Apollo GED Aspire orientation March 21

Orientation for Apollo Career Center's Aspire program will be held on March 21. This is a free program for anyone 16 and over wanting to earn their High School Diploma or GED.

ODOT kicks off construction season in northwest Ohio

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (March 15, 2023) – The Ohio Department of Transportation announced today that it expects to invest a record $2.5 billion into more than 1,000 projects during this year’s construction season to improve transportation and make Ohio’s roads safer across the state.

This year’s statewide construction program includes 31 new projects that are considered “major” with a value above $10 million. There are 190 safety projects aimed directly at reducing serious or deadly crashes. More than 5,700 miles of pavement will be improved, and 823 bridges will be repaired or replaced.

Ribbon Cutting for FNB Lima branch on March 22

First National Bank is excited to host a ribbon cutting and celebration of its newest full-service community bank at 2580 Eastown Road, Lima. The ribbon cutting will take place Wednesday, March 22 at 4:00 p.m. with the help of the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce. Refreshments and desserts will be served. Guests will also be able to take a tour of the new branch and meet our Lima team.

Scholarships offered to Bluffton High School seniors

The S.H.A.N.N.O.N. (Sharing Hopes And Nourishing Needs Of Neighbors) Service Club of Bluffton is again offering up to 2 $1000 “Service to Humanity” Scholarships to graduating seniors at Bluffton High School. 

Seniors may pick up the scholarship application form in the high school guidance office. Applications must be returned to the guidance office by March 31.

SumiRiko donates land for youth soccer fields

Representatives of SumiRiko Ohio (SRK) and Sumitomo Riko Japan hosted Bluffton elected officials as well as those active in parks and recreation development for the company's 35th anniversary land donation ceremony and luncheon on Thursday, March 1.

Kazushi Shimizu, president of Sumitomo Riko Japan, presented several acres on Snider Rd. as a donation to be used for youth soccer fields. Shimizu explained that Bluffton was the company's first overseas production base and that thanks to its success, the company been able to grow to 100 production facilities for anti-vibration automotive products in over 20 countries.
